Why I started this.
My dad's been an electrician for over 30 years. Trained properly, hands like sandpaper, the kind of bloke who'll drive across London on a Sunday to sort out a customer's issue because "they were good to me last time."
He's brilliant at the job. He's terrible at picking up the phone when he's already on one. And I lost count of the times I'd hear him say "ah, they've probably gone with someone else now" — because he couldn't ring back for three hours.
That's most of my family. Cousins running electrical firms, uncles in construction, family friends in every trade you can name. They love the work. They love taking on new contracts, expanding the team, watching the business grow.
But the reality of running it on your own is that things fall through the cracks — and the ones that fall through cost you the most.
